Home before the world race I would say was Iowa, it was all I knew , so its all I called home. It was the house I grew up on the street of Oakwood Dr. It was my home church. Home was the comfort I had grown up with. Home was with my family , it was with my friends. I only thought I had one place to call home, until I went on the world race and met Jesus , then did home change for me.

Home I’ve learned is in heaven, heaven is my home, it’s with my father. Home is whenever I’m with Him. So while being on the race Ive constantly moved places that I called my home. These places i called home because I was constantly with my father. I always feel at home with Jesus. Home has constantly been redefined for me, home is who I’m with.

These are the places I have slept on The race and have called home sweet home:

  • Home is in my tent in the woods of Gainesville, Georgia , surrounded by thirty other tents of people I called family for these past nine months and forevermore.

  • Home is on the floor of the adventures base in Georgia. The place where they’re used to be an office, but turned into the place we slept when it got cold outside or a hurricane came through.

  • Home is in the quarantine room, when I had my concussion.

  • Home is On the floor at First baptist church, in foley, Alabama. While we had the opportunity to do Hurricane relief.

  • Home is in the AIM van , when there was a multitude of chemicals overflowing at our base. So I  slept in the van outside.

  • Home is in the Atlanta airport, awaiting to board.

  • Home is at the home I grew up in, in Des Moines, Iowa

  • Home is at my best friends home, during New Years.

  • Home is on my sleeping pad, and sleeping bag , surrounded by my squad, on the floor of our base in Georgia.

  • Home is on the plane to Quito, Ecuador.

  • Home is at Mabe and fabis home in room nine.

  • Home is at Dunamis, in the upstairs office space.

  • Home is in La cabana , in the backyard of Mabe and fabis.

  • Home is at El refegio , cabin 4

  • Home is room 10 at the seminary , we had our midpoint debrief at.

  • Home is on the plane to our layover in Miami and our flight to Guatemala.

  • Home is in room one at the Guatemala AIM base.

  • Home is in my tent on top of The Volcano.

  • Home is at the hostel , at lake atetland

  • Home is in room six at the hostel Antigueno in Antigua.

  • Home is in Quarantine , back in room one at our base in Guatemala.

Home is never a specific place, or one certain spot. The Lord has given me so many places to call home, simply because I am with Him. Home is where my feet are. Yes , I am coming back to the place I grew up at, and for a brief time I get to call that home. Because Jesus is coming with me wherever I go, home is wherever I go with him, how cool is that! Thank you for reading this!

UPDATE ON COVID: I am Currently still in Quarantine, we do get tested today again. We are praying big prayers , praying for Gods hand to be upon every single test being done. The Lord is so good and I a beyond grateful to be apart of something bigger than myself. Following Jesus does not mean everything will be okay, but it’s an abundant life with Him, that focuses on how good He really is. Jesus I cant wait to see how you are going to redeem this situation.

I love you all a whole bunch, talk to you soon! Love, Kaitlyn
